With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to Sister Jacqueline Elaine Nettles, affectionately known as Moms, Mommy, Memawl, or Aunt Jackie. Jacqueline entered this world on May 13, 1953, in Citronelle, Alabama, born to the late Oliver and Darlene Nettles of Calvert, AL. On the morning of Monday, January 22, 2024, surrounded by loved ones, she peacefully passed away in her home.

In the summer of 1985, Jacqueline dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses at the summer convention in Mobile, AL. Until her final breath, she remained a devoted and loyal servant of Jehovah, eagerly sharing her love for Him with all whom she encountered. Conversations with Jacqueline inevitably revolved around her faith, a testament to her unwavering commitment. She served as a convention volunteer for many years and as a full- time pioneer, finding immense joy in her ministry, especially in working with the youth of the congregation.

Jacqueline's formative years in Calvert were filled with fond memories of playing softball with her family and learning invaluable lessons from her mother. After graduating from McIntosh High School in 1971, she embarked on a journey that took her from the familiar dirt roads of Calvert, AL, to the palm tree-lined streets of Compton, CA. Returning to Calvert after a few years, she pursued and earned an Associate Degree in Marketing from Bishop State University. It was in the classroom, however, where Jacqueline discovered her true passion, dedicating herself to educating young scholars. Her genuine care and affection for her students were palpable, evidenced by the warm greetings she received from former pupils whenever they crossed paths in public.

Jacqueline's talents extended beyond the classroom, as she was renowned for her culinary skills. Her chicken salad and chicken and dumplings were revered as the best this side of the Mississippi. Additionally, she was a gifted seamstress and baker, famous for her sweet potato pie and German Chocolate Cake, crafted entirely from memory and without the need for a recipe. Those privileged enough to hear her sing were enchanted by her smooth, soulful voice, a reflection of her diverse talents. Yet above all, it was Jacqueline's profound love for Jehovah that defined her character and will be sorely missed by all who knew her, as it fueled her boundless capacity for love and service.

Jacqueline is survived by her three beloved children: Rence Perkins of Norfolk, VA, Colli Nettles Barnes of Mobile, AL, and Aiun Nettles of Atlanta, GA. She is also remembered fondly by her six grandchildren: Mydrell Barnes, Jade Perkins, Domonic Barnes, Dameyn Barnes, Simone Perkins, and Cameron Perkins.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her six siblings: Junita Crenshaw of Mobile, AL, Marsha (Arnold) Dennis of Bucks, AL, Winferd (Leslie, Jr.) Garner of Jemison, AL, Juan Felice (Brenda) Nettles of Calvert, AL, Hope (Lannis, Sr.) Chapman of Citronelle, AL, and Susan Serls of Montgomery, AL.

She is also remembered by her affectionate aunts, Rebecca Williams from Calvert, AL, and Betsy Ann Williams from Chattahoochee Hills, GA. Additionally, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends who will deeply feel her absence.
