His services included: Assistant Principal at Phillips Preparatory Magnet and Satsuma High Schools, and Principal at Mobile County Training Middle and Calloway-Smith Middle Schools. He was also a member of the Gulf City Golfers Association. James developed Parkinson’s in 2009; to maintain strength and coordination, he boxed at both Gulf Shores and Saads Health Care Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James and Doris, and his sister Cherise Brooks. He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and very devoted wife of 19 years, Carmen Johnson Brooks; one son, James V. Brooks II of Conyers, Georgia; four daughters: Cherie Flott of Mt.
