Deacon James Albert Keeler

On March 31, 2023 - The Angels of God whispered: “James, come now and take your rest.”
Deacon James Albert Keeler was born March 11, 1935 to the union of Eska and Rosie Parker Keeler. He peacefully transition on Friday, March 31, 2023 at his residence in Montrose, Alabama.

James started his Christian journey at an early age at John Baptist Church in Barnett, MS. Years later, he became a member of Condordia Lutheran Church in Montrose, AL. He also attended Greater Montrose A.M.E. Church in Montrose, AL where he sang in the Male Chorus. James served as a Deacon for twenty-two ears at Mount Olive Baptist Church #2 until his health failed.
After thirty-one years of services with Long Shoreman Local #1410 he retired. James retired after receiving injures in 1983. He also worked at Ratcliff delivering cement blocks to local businesses in Mississippi and Alabama.

James loved fishing and giving his catch away. He spent hours in his yard growing amaryllis which he loved also. He raised other fruits and shared them with his neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his brothers: John E. Keeler, Charlie Owens Keeler and Aljaray Keeler; and loving sister, Mattie L. Keeler Goins; sisters-in-law: Mammie Keeler, Mattie Keeler, Bettie Ruth Keeler and Christine Keeler; brothers-in-law: Caleb Robinson, Howard Goins and Louive Brogan.

James leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Agnes Weaver Keeler; a step-son, Jeremy I. Weaver of Montrose, AL; four brothers: Isiah (Rosetta) Keeler of O’Fellon, IL, Robert L. Keeler of Vossburg, MS, Doctor L. (Lauanna) Keeler of San Antonio, TX and John H. Keeler of Coffeevile, MS; three sisters: Doris M. Keeler Robinson of Chicago, IL, Edna R. Keeler Humphrey of Chicago, IL and Florine Keeler Brogan of Montrose, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors.
