Obituary for James Pogue

Mr. James O'Neal Pogue-- a native of Grove Hill, AL. and a resident of Mobile for many years, born December 16, 1930, departed this life Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the VA Hospital, Biloxi, MS. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Daisy Pogue, step-mother, Flora Pogue, brothers, Fredrick Pogue and Toles Nobles. He was a faithful member of Amity Missionary Baptist Church, where he served as President of the Senior Usher Board, member of the Trustee Board, Vice President of the Usher Calender and a former Councilman of the City of Prichard. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Janie Pogue, two daughters, Lorraine(Bobby) Malone, both of Mobile and Bernice Ezell, Butler, AL.a host of grands, two devoted granddaughters, Alexis Johnson and Bincia Malone, five brothers, Elvin(Lloyd) Pogue, Mobile, Joseph Pogue, Atlanta,GA., Melvin(Marsha) Pogue, Louisville, KY., Emrol Lee(Cecelia) Pogue, Prichard and Eldridge(Donna) Pogue, Pensacola, FL., three sisters, Erie Baldwin, Los Angeles, CA., Ann Nobles(Howard) Coleman, Mobile, Carolyn P.(Milton) Shuford, Montgomery, AL., aunt, Jessie(Thelma) Moore, Mission Hill, CA., a devoted uncle, Roscoe(Nellie) Cox, Moss Point, MS., a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, Ann Simmons, one devoted, Chester Johnson. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Friday, March 30, 2007 from 1-8pm and Saturday, March 31, 2007 after 9am until the 11am funeral hour the family will receive friends from 10am until the 11am funeral hour at Amity Missionary Baptist Church, 969 Donald St. Interment Whispering Pines Cemetery.
