Obituary

James Levester Sampson was born October 24, 1964 in Greenville, AL to James Sampson and the late Rosia Sampson. A lifelong resident of Whistler, AL. he accepted Christ at an early age at Taylor Chapel CME Church. He is a graduate of Cedar Grove Academy.
James was a hard worker and enjoyed working with his hands. He had a passion for landscaping and made sure his customers were satisfied with his services. James took pride in all that he did. So much so, that his mother received an award for best kept yard that was manicured by him. He also was a great painter. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, crabbing, watching wrestling and the Animal Planet Channel.

James really enjoyed fashion. He didn’t leave the house without being sharp. Anything different or flashy James would wear it. He was the life of the party and enjoyed talking and spending time with family and friends.

It is said in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 that we are to give bountifully and not grudgingly; for God loveth a cheerful giver. James had a big heart and enjoyed sharing with others. He would give all that he had and did it with a smile on his face not expecting or looking for anything in return. James loved and spoiled his nieces and nephew. He’d empty his pockets and give them his last. Even though James had a pleasant personality and enjoyed making people laugh, he had no problem speaking his mind.

James was preceded in death by his grandfather, C.B. McCastle, Sr., grandmother, Vinnie McCastle; mother, Rosia Sampson; and sister, Vivian Sampson.
He leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife Doris Hicks Sampson; brother, Michael (Betrina) Sampson of Dacula, GA; two nieces, Kaitlyn and Kelsey Sampson of Dacula, GA; one nephew, Bryce Sampson of Dacula, GA; nine aunts, Hattie (Roosevelt) Patterson, Frances (Connell) Stewart, Barbara (Charles) Harden, all of Prichard, AL; Agnes Johnson of Columbus, OH; June Posey of Los Angeles, CA; Edna (Louis) Campbell of Montgomery, AL, Joyce Williams of Greenville, AL; Betty (Curley) Wright of Birmingham, AL, Jeanette Nash of Tulsa, OK and one uncle, C.B. (Lula) McCastle of Whistler, AL; an endeared cousin, Linda Posey of Greenville, AL; devoted friend Greg Foney and a host of other family and friends.
