James Edward Thomas, 84 years of age, of Mobile, AL; departed his earthly home for eternal rest on Thursday, June 4, 2020. He was born to the union of Marshall Thomas and Delilah Mitchell-Thomas. A native of Grove Hill, AL he served in the U.S. Army and afterwards transitioned into masonry work, were he was employed with Sherman Concrete for many years.
James was preceded in death by his father, Marshall Thomas; his mother and stepfather Henley and Delilah Stewart; two sisters Dolly Leonard and her husband Deacon J. D. Leonard and Ida Mae Cunningham and her husband Lephate Cunningham, Sr.; a brother-in-law Rev. William G. May, Sr.; and a daughter Lola Mae Weathington.
He leaves to cherish his memories a sister Cora L. May of Mobile, AL; two daughters Edna Hale of Mobile, AL; and Terrie (Quintin) Howard of Mobile, AL; two sons Eddie J. Hale of Mobile, AL; and Marshall R. Hale of Albany, GA; 10 grandchildren, Michael Weathington, Michelle W. Crum, Marquita Weathington, Lolita Weathington, Ophelia Weathington, Dinesha Carter, Willie Ray Williams, Jr., Maurice D. Hale, Quintin Howard, Jr., and Malachi J. Howard; also a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and two devoted nephews Eddie M. Thomas of Mobile, AL. and Jesse Leonard of Grove Hill, AL; and a devoted friend Jessie King of Mobile, AL.
