Jarvise Devota Gibson, affectionately known as “Gibbo” a native of Mobile, AL was born March 16, 1994 to Melisa Gibson. He departed this life Tuesday, July 28, 2020. He attended Williamson High School was a proud member of the 2012 graduating class. Jarvise graduated with Advanced Honors. He also was a member of the Mighty Marching Lions. He received a scholarship in band to Alabama State University. He attended Alabama State in 2012 and became a Mighty Marching Hornet. He became section leader in 2014 along with Cam. Jarvise’s section never lost in their battles. They were undefeated and won best section 2012 – 2014 because of his leadership in 2014. The name of his section was the “Trunk of Funk.” He graduated from Alabama State in 2016. Alpha Phi Sigma where he received a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice from the National Criminal Justice Honor Society. Jarvise joined the United States Air Force in 2017 where he became a Senior Airman. He was employed as a manager at Enterprise Car Sale. He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Nelma and Bunnie Gibson; two great aunts: Opal Reece and Marian Gibson. Jarvise leaves to cherish his memories and celebrate his life, one son, Matthias A. Gibson of Tuscaloosa, AL; his mother, Melisa Gibson of Mobile, AL; grandmother, Martha A. Gibson of Mobile, AL; a sister, LaQuishia (Blakey) Sullivan of Mobile, AL; a brother, Shamone Gibson of Mobile, AL; five aunts: Jaqueline E. Gibson of Mobile, AL, Tanya R. Gibson of Mobile, AL, Tracey (Richard) German of Mobile, AL, Dominique Gibson of Fairburn, GA and Annette (Craig) Buster of San Antonio, TX; a uncle, Charles Gibson of Mobile, AL; close cousins: Sergeant Clinton Campbell of Fairburn, GA, Senior Airman Patrick Gibson of Mobile, AL and Louis Gibson of Mobile, AL; a friend since 2nd grade, Alexander “Alex” James of Montgomery, AL; a nephew, Jacob Gibson of Mobile, AL; mother of his son, Eureka S. Ellis of Tuscaloosa, AL; 908th Airlift Wing of Maxwell Air Force Base, AL; Enterprise Family of Montgomery, AL; Alabama State University “Trunk of Funk Band”; a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and co-workers.

We were cheerleaders at ASU and met Gibbo on a trip while he was in the band. Times will pass and fade, but memories of you will last forever.
