Jasper “Champ” Rogers was born on August 11, 1958 in Mobile, AL to Clarene Rogers and Cornelius Allen, Jr.
Jasper joined Little Rock A.M.E. Zion Church as a child. He redirected his life to Christ in 2016, because he said, “he wanted to someday be with the Lord.” That wonderful day has come.
Jasper was a hardworking family man. He was well known and loved by many. He began working at TA Travel Center in 1978 where he worked for thirty-seven years. Providing for not only his family, but many others. He retired in 2015 due to his health. Jasper loved spending time with his family and friends always having a joke or saying to make you smile.
Jasper transitioned from his earthly life for eternal life on Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his mother, Clarene Rogers; father, Cornelius Allen, Jr.; sister, Joyce Jackson; and brother, Marcus Watkins.
These left behind to cherish his memories are his loving and devoted wife of thirty-eight years, Loretta Rogers; three devoted children: one son, Jasper (Siprena) Broughton of Atlanta, GA; two daughters: Jennifer Broughton of Bayou La Batre, AL and Brittney (Darryl) Sewer of Grand Bay, AL; one adopted daughter, Maria Dallas of Detroit, MI; eight grandchildren: Keyona, Jamarion, Kameron, Jaslyn, Kaden, Kaleigh, Nolan and Logan; eight sisters: Emma Hall, Brenda Rogers, Debra Rogers and Marcella Rogers all of Grand Bay, AL, Gretta Rogers, Bridgett (Carl) Turner, Margaret Tolbert and Deborah Rhone all of Mobile, AL; three brothers: Ernest Rogers of Grand Bay, AL, Cornelius Watkins and Reginald Watkins of Mobile, AL; one sister-in-law, Annie (Pastor Robert) Wilkerson of Moss Point, MS; six brothers-in-law: Ralph James, Alvin James of Oxnard, CA, Larry James of Goleta, CA, Aaron James of Hanford, CA, Jerry Broughton of Balstrap, LA and Mizell Broughton of Grand Bay, AL; three aunts: Leanna Hunt of Grand Bay, AL, Mattie Lee Allen of Atlanta, GA an Sarah Allen of Detroit, MI; two god-sons: Brandon Rogers of Grand Bay, AL and Derek Dixon; one god-daughter, Sheterika Broughton; four devoted friends: Randy Campbell, Isaac (Dee) Ward, Sr., Isaac (Pop) Ward, Jr. and Ralph (Slug) Williams; a special and devoted caregiver, friend and son-in-law, Darryl Sewer; a host of nieces, one devoted, Sherry Campbell, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
