Obituary for Jessie Weeks

Jessie Rose McNeil Weeks, a longtime Fairhope resident was born January 8, 1937 and departed this life on Monday, Jul 15, 2019 at Thomas Hospital surrounded by family.

Jessie was a dedicated member of the Shrine of the Holy Cross Catholic Church where she worked on numerous committees. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of St. Peter Claver Court #170, where she held several positions during her time with the organization. She was also a member of the ladies Altar Society.

Jessie would like to let everyone know that her work here is done. She received a call, a sort of an offer you can’t refuse, for appointment from which she will not be returning. This assignment comes with a huge sign-on-bonus, a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time. Job security is exactly 110 percent. Her new mission takes her to a wonderful place where she will be socializing, dancing, playing canasta and bridge to her heart’s content. Music, laughter and love are guaranteed. Food is delicious and you never gain an ounce. She left detailed instructions for her family and friends to celebrate her mission here, which has now been completed.

Jessie was the daughter of Brown and Adlee Marks who preceded her in death: along with her husband Ruben weeks; daughter- Shelia Tolbert; son- Bennie Goodman; brother Andre McNeil; and granddaughter- Kenya Odom.

She leaves her children, who will forever treasure her memory. Elizabeth ( Leslie) Odom, Ruben (Julia) Weks, Travis ( Charmaine) weeks, Joseph ( Debbie) Weeks and Eric Weeks; sisters; Carol (Willie) Timmons and Twinetta Mitchell; brothers; Mervin (Helen) Jackson and Wayne Marks; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, god children, and other loving relatives and devoted friends.

We her family want to let her know that she did a great job and wish her a safe journey. We will remember her smile, her warmth, her energy, her love for life, family and friends. She worked hard all her life and she made a difference in the lives of many.
