Obituary for Jettie Ree Withers

Our beloved mother, Jettie Ree Withers was born on June 18, 1943 to the late Sam and Loraine Gilyard Matt of Arlington, Al. She transitioned from this life on Tuesday, May 5th, 2020 in Mobile, Alabama. She attended Annie Maine High School in Arlington, Alabama.
Jettie professed hope in Christ at an early age and became a member of Pine Level Primitive Baptist Church in Arlington, Alabama. After relocating to Mobile, Alabama in 1975, she joined Wings Over Jordan Baptist Church, now known as, Wings Over Jordan Christian Center, where she was a lifelong member, under the current leadership of Pastor Donald R. Sylvester. She was a member of the choir, and, also a member of the Mother Board.
Jettie loved listening to her gospel music. She loved any song by Lee Williams. Her favorite song was, “Walking in Light” by Georgia Mass Choir, for she is now amid the beautiful light of the Lord.
Jettie was a hard worker. She was employed for many years at Brookside Assisted Living. She spent her later years as a private sitter, a job she truly enjoyed.
Jettie was proceeded in death by her husband, Franklin Devan Withers; her daughters, Lorie, Jennifer, and Martha Withers; her parents, Sam and Loraine Gilyard Matt; her siblings, Sam Matt Jr, Rose Stanton, Elizabeth Matt Montgomery, and Raymond Matt.
Fond memories of our sweet angel will forever linger in the hearts of her children; Linda(Carl) Johnson, Alton David Withers, Willie G(Robert)Chandler, Frankie(Andrew)Harmon, Sharetta(Patrick)Hughes, Veronica Withers, Deborah Withers, all of Mobile, AL; Sandra(Donald)Broadnax of Antioch, TN, and Terrance(Jennifer)Withers of Tacoma, WA.; her beloved grandchildren, and great grandchildren; her siblings; Roosevelt(Elmeta)Matt of Antioch, TN, Selena(Walter)Stallworth, Brenda(Warren)Johns of Daphne, AL; Rosetta(Jordan) Anderson of Arlington, Al; Ethel Gibson, and Clarine(Matthew)Kimbrough of Detroit MI; her brother-in-law, James Montgomery of Daphne, AL; her sister-in-law’s, Mary Matt, and Faustina Matt of Detroit MI; her nieces, nephews, and friends.
