Obituary for Deacon Jimmie Lee Bell, Sr.

“Celebrating 93 Years of Life!”

Jimmie Bell, Sr. was born April 28, 1930 in Millers Ferry, Alabama. It was there he attended elementary, middle and high school. After high school he relocated to Mobile, Alabama. He joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church #1 under the leadership of Dr. A.J. Stokes. It was there, he met the love of his life, Dorothy T. King. Jimmie was a faithful servant he wore many hats at Mt. Olive. He was a member of the Trustee Board, and later he became a member of the Deacon Board, where he served as Chairman for many years until his health failed him.

Jimmie and Dorothy were married June 18, 1955 to this union, they were bless with three sons and two daughters.

Jimmie worked for PPG Industries for many years before his retirement. He was a metal and glass fabricator supervisor. Jimmie was known for his giving heart and his many, many talents there was nothing our Dad couldn’t do. His family was his pride and joy. Although Jimmie never attended college he successfully sent all five of his children to college and the trade school of their choice where all five completed their education.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his mother, Susie Williams Bell; his brothers: James Bell (Boolin), Frank Bell, Roy Bell, Golden Bell (Do-Sign) and Leon Bell; and his sisters: Ethel Mae Mack and Ruth Ann Jackson.

Jimmie leaves to cherish his memories, a loving and devoted wife of sixty-nine years, Dorothy King Bell; his children: Jimmie (Peggy) Bell, Jr. and Ronald Bell both of Mobile, AL, Jeffery (Darla) Bell of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Bell and Sonya Bell both of Katy, TX; eight grandchildren: Julius, Quentin, Ronald Jr., Christopher, Jazmah, Jamila, Jelani and Jonathan; three great-grandchildren: Laila, Julius (Peanut) and Noah; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and Mt. Olive #1 Missionary Baptist Church Family.
