Obituary for Jimmie Lee Jones

Sergeant First Class (S.F.C.) Jimmie Lee Jones, born on May 22, 1939 in Dothan, Alabama to the union of Oscar Ray and Emma Lee Jones, departed this life on Tuesday, January 16, 2019 as the angels surrounded his home to be with the Lord.

He was a native of Creola, Alabama and resided in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He served 20 honorable years in the United States Army as an army airborne (paratrooper). During his military career he earned several medals and awards including Senior Parachute Badge, 2 Overseas Service Bars, 5 Service Stripes, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Republic Vietnam Cross of Gallantry W/Palm 2D Award and many more. He was a graduate of Devry University, obtaining a bachelor's degree in business in 1994.

He was preceded in death by his loving daughter Shirley Jones. Three sisters Beauford Jones Chester, Ruby Jones Taite, and Edna Taite and three brothers Alexander Jones, Douglas Jones, and Roy Jones.

He was survived by and leaves to cherish his precious memories, his children Cleomise Jones (Columbia, South Carolina), Heather (Justin) Mize (Santa Ana, California), and Nikki League (Fontana, California), two stepsons Ray Spivey (Fayetteville, North Carolina), and Sterling Spivey (Charlotte, North Carolina) 12 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Brothers and sisters Maeretta Boga (New Jersey), Nellie Boga (Tennesse), James Jones (Oakland, California), Edward (Sharron) Jones, Altermese Jones, Nathaniel (Isobella) Jones all in (Mobile, Alabama) and Debra Jones (Huntsville, Alabama), a host of relatives and friends, two devoted friends Vivian Smith and Dan Ponita (Fayetteville, North Carolina).
