Obituary for John Henry "Johnny" Quinnie

John H. Quinnie was born to the union of Willie and Mary Quinnie on May 17, 1954. He departed his life peacefully on September 25, 2018. John graduated from Theodore high school in 1972. He went on to serve in the United States Army for four years. He worked for Ingalls Shipbuilding for 35 years and received many certificates for his work and talents before retiring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Mary Quinnie; and brother, Michael Quinnie.
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving family; devoted wife, Phyllis B. Quinnie; two daughters, Miataya Quinnie and Khalilah Quinnie; one stepson, Wallace Bradford, four grandchildren, Mykela, Kornelius, Dylan-Elizabeth, and Jayce; five brothers, Willie Washington and Joseph Washington of Theodore, AL., Charles (Sheldon) Quinnie of Theodore, AL, Lester Quinnie, Jackie(Karen) Quinnie of Mobile, AL.; seven sisters, Ida Mae (Leslie) Lewis, Betty (Larry) Dotson of Maywood, IL, Amelia Carter, Susie Quinnie-Johnson of Mobile, AL, Darlene (Frank) Wilburn of Philadelphia, PN, Deola Quinnie of Theodore, AL, Wanda (Sylvester) Jones of Decatur, GA; One sister-in-law, Gwendolyn Glanton of Dothan, AL.; two brothers-in-law, Johnny Bradford and Larry Bradford of Mobile, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, other relatives and many friends.
His remains will lie in state on Friday, October 5, 2018 from 1-8pm at Small’s Mortuary, Mobile. A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 from 10am until the 12pm funeral hour at Mount Ararat Baptist Church, 5201 Washington Blvd, AL. Interment will follow in Lawn Memorial Gardens, Theodore, AL.
