Obituary for Joseph Walker

Joseph Walker was born on January 9, 1942 in Browns, Alabama to the late Percy Walker and Fannie Mae Walker.
Joseph accepted Christ at an early age and until his health failed, was an active member of Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church where he worked tirelessly as deacon, choir member, and any other area in the church where he could render service. He was employed with the City of Mobile Parks and Recreation Department for over three decades.
Joseph enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. Two of his favorite pastimes was woodworking and solving crossword puzzles.
Those left to forever cherish his memory are his faithful, devoted wife and caregiver, Freida Walker, two sisters, Percie Leggett of Mobile, AL; Pearl Williams of Montgomery, AL; five daughters, Shirley (Rev. Demetrius) Payne; Sharon Walker; Deborah (Lawrence) Powe; Patricia (Rev. Carl) Johnson, all of Mobile, AL; Maria (Frederick) Cephas of Augusta, GA and one son, Fredrick Smith of Nashville, TN; 21 grandchildren; ; 13 great-grandchildren; two God-children; devoted best friend Louis Anderson (Ann) of Clear Water, Florida and a host of other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunlight Missionary Baptist Church.
