Obituary for Julious Cornelius Shine

Deacon Julious Cornelius Shine, affectionately known as “ J. or Coach Shine”, departed his earthly home in exchange for his eternal resting place July 31, 2020. Julius Shine begin his life work in Tampa, Florida where he worked in recreation at Riverview Terrace Park. He moved to Mobile in 1992 and was employed by the City of Mobile for 23 years. His health declined and he retired in 2016. During his tenure, he worked in purpose; the Track & Field Program! Coach Shine tirelessly mentored young athletes. He touched so many lives. He provided inspiration to all and was great at encouraging others. Deacon Shine was preceded in death by his father, Adrian Shine I; Parents-In-Law, Mr. & Mrs. Luma (Leola) Rocker; Grandmother Mildred Jordan; and Aunt Yolanda Warmack. He leaves to cherish his loving memories to his devoted wife, Angela Rocker Shine; mother, Mattie Shine; two daughters: Chandra (Dominique) Williams and Ryan (D’Andre) Day; two beautiful granddaughters that adored him: Ryleigh & Dalainey Day; five brothers: Renice Freeman, Adrian (Regina) Shine, II, Michael Shine, I, Hayward (Alice) Shine and Timothy (Angela) Shine; two sisters: Mary Shine Jenkins (Keith) and Brenda Shine-Harris; two brothers-inlaw: Randy & Steven Rocker; seventeen nephews: Adrian Shine, Jr., Aquil Hilarie, Jalen Workman, Wayne Shine, Sr., Michael Shine, II, Desmond Shine, Roland Oliver, Jr., Jonathan Oliver, Eugene J. Welch, Sr., Curran Lane, Jr., Charles Harris, Jr., Tavaris Harris, Brandon Wicks, Randal Rocker, Jr., Steven Rocker, Malcolm Rocker & Cole Sharp; nineteen nieces: Krichinah Freeman-Glass, Jasmin Freeman, Nina Shine, Tiffanie Tilley, Shanita Shine, Shakirah Hilarie, Natishia Shine, Michelle Shine, Audrey Shine, Kadijah Shine, Mosena Shine, Deja Shine, Nicole Shine-Goode, Banner Harris, Shantel Taylor, Nicole Moore, Sydnee Rocker and Tayler Rocker; six special friends: Samuel Pettaway, Kenny White, Dr. Frank Friedman, Gary Howard, Sheryl White and Connie Talbert-McClain; devoted cousin, April Davis; four Loving Individuals He Considered As His Own: Tacita Bass, Dequel Robinson, Dedrick Burnett, & Shalela Dowdy; and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
