Obituary for LeArthur "Heavy Weight Lover" Dawkins Sr.

Mr. LeArthur Dawkins “Heavy Weight Lover” departed this life for his eternal home Tue., Aug. 23, 2022. He was born Sept. 24, 1941 to the late Bessie Lee Tate and Preston Mack Dawkins of Waynesburg, MS.

He was employed by the Mobile County Public School System for over 40 years. He also worked for Riley Mason, Koffaras in Axis, AL, and was a reserved officer during the 1970s. He attended Blount High School where he played in the band. Hos hobbies included: collecting cars and painting them, and also collecting hats.

He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Joyce Ann Dawkins. He leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Danny Dawkins, Teresa Dawkins, Thaddeus (Yolanda) Dawkins, Terri Dawkins, Tracy Dawkins, Tangie (Trent) Philon, Trudy Felton, LeArthur Dawkins Jr., Nyree-Dawn (Armhed) Outlaw, Shawn Lee (Terrilyn) Dawkins, and Preston Tyrone (Stacy) Dawkins; 31 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, one devoted great grandchild: KeUnniee Fountain; a devoted friend, Mark (Melba) Eaton, and a host of other relatives and friends.
