Obituary for Leonard Lee Nixon

Mr. Leonard L. Nixon was a native of Autaugaville, Alabama and a resident of Mobile, Alabama for over
65 years. Leonard was born on May 1, 1935 to the late Sam and Eula Vera Debardelaben-Nixon.
Leonard made a peaceful transition from his earthly life to his eternal home on Wednesday afternoon,
May 5, 2021. Leonard was preceded in death by his wife, Irene Baker Nixon, sons, Kerry Allen and Terry
Nixon, Brother, Sam Nixon and Sisters, Mary Cutler, Marta Lamar, Katherine Hayes, Willie Dean Golay,
Oreal and Helen Nixon.
Leonard was employed by the City of Mobile, where he retired after 42 years of service as a Supervisor
of Waste Management. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending quality time with his
family and friends, and church services. Brother Leonard was a devoted member of St. Joseph
Missionary Baptist Church, of Mobile, Alabama, where he served faithfully on the trust broad.
Leonard is survived by his children to cherish and carry on his memories, Odessa, Lakeitha Kenyielle and
Brandon Nixon of Mobile, Alabama, Shelia “Dwight” Briggs and Marshelle “Ricky” Lazaro of Sacramento,
California, and Kimberly “Albert” Nixon-Houlsen of Houston, Texas. One daughter in love, Cesley “late-
Kerry” Nixon of Sacramento, California.
Grandchildren, Kenneth Nixon, Alaysia Zhane Nobles of Mobile, Alabama, Brooklyn Lauren Williams
Nixon of Charlotte, North Carolina, Jada, Sabrina and Eric “Tia” Briggs, Cekarri, Kayman and Kencell
Nixon, Ginille “Kenny Jr.” Lazaro-Brown, and Ricky J. Lazaro Jr, of Sacramento, California, Corde Bennett
and Alyssa Houlsen of Houston, Texas.
Great Grandchildren, Preston Briggs, Eli and Kai Brown of Sacramento, California.
Cherishing his memories are his beloved sisters, Beatrice Studemire, Cordelia Whittaker of Mobile,
Alabama and Carrie Douglas, of Prattville, Alabama.
Also cherishing his memories is his beloved friend, Bessie Stevens of Mobile, Alabama. His beloved
lifelong friend and former spouse, Laura Nixon Johnson of Sacramento, California.
Also celebrating his life are a host of wonderful nephews, beautiful nieces, amazing cousins, awesome
extended family and friends worldwide.
May Our HEAVENLY FATHER GOD, continue covering each one of us with HIS amazing Love. We thank
HIM for allowing you to love each of us in your own way. We will miss you dearly. May you rest in
