Brother Leroy Carson Jr. known as “Roy Jr.”, “Lil Dad” and “Boy Boy”, was born
March 1, 1937 to the late Elder Leroy and Lucille Bell in Mobile, Alabama. He was called home
to be with the Lord on June 18, 2020. He is preceded in death by his parents Elder Leroy and
Lucille Bell; his son, Glenn Carson; three brothers, George, Jesse And Charles Bell; two sisters,
Gladys Perkins and Louise Jackson; one nephew, Marcus Bell; two grandsons, Elais Seltzer and
Alaric Gould Jr.; and three great-grandsons, Jaden Christian Carson, Elijah Christian Carson and
Gregory Lavon Lee (man-man) Caver.
He was the oldest of eight children and he became a family hero at five years old when
he saved his baby sister Louise Jackson from a house fire by mov-ing her from a burning room to
a safe place in the house. He married the love of his life, Addie Lee Carson on July 27, 1962 in
Mobile, Alabama. On April 7, 1969 Leroy Carson was employed by the Mobile Housing Board
for 27 years, where he came in contact with so many people and never met a stranger. He
enjoyed taking his family on outings and vacations and of course taking his grandkids to Dairy
Queen. He was known for driving under the speed limit even if the place to be was important.
His wife was able to get him to take her anywhere but fishing. He became a member of the
Masons Of Alabama Bay Leaf Lodge #427 in 1995. Leroy was a member of Truelight
Missionary Baptist Church.
His loving spirit will forever be cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Addie Carson;
nine daughters, Paulette Pettway, Claudette Nelson, Anita Carson, Sandra (Alaric) Gould,
Gladys (Darron) Morrissette, Shirley (Willie) McGaster, Tina(James) Brown, Minister Regina
(Reginald) Williams; all of Mobile, Alabama and Emmaline (Chauncey) Ivey of Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania; two sisters, Betty (Noah) Hughs, Odessa (Elder Grady) Gordon, of Mobile,
Alabama. Six sister-in-laws, Carrie Lee Williams, Union Town, Alabama; Pearlie Moffett, Fort
Worth, Texas; Dithornia Johnson, Junction, Alabama; Lunese Johnson, Betty Mae Bell and
Cynthia Bell, all of Mobile,Alabama. One brother-in-law Walter (Melinda) Reese, Prichard,
Alabama. Thirty-one grandchildren, Sixty-nine great-grandchildren and six great-great
grandchildren. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
