Obituary for Leslie Hunter Jr.

Leslie Hunter, Jr. was a native of Mobile and a resident of Wilmer, Alabama. He was the first child born to the union of Mr. Leslie Hunter, Sr. and Mrs. Carrie Mae Collins Hunter on August 8, 1947. Chick or Cootie, as he was affectionately known, was a 1965 graduate of Blount High School. Cootie worked as a door assembler at McPhillips, as a merchant seaman, and as a crane operator at Alabama Dry Dock. He served in the United States Army and in the Vietnam War. After returning from the war, he worked at Kimberly Clark (formerly Scott Paper Company). He united with the Christian Union Primitive Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Elder Dave V. George and was a member of the first kindergarten class led by Sis. George. He remained a member of the church under the leadership of Dr. Jeffrey T. Rainey.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Albert Lee Hunter, and his sister, Mildred Hunter Vincent.
He leaves to cherish his memories his siblings, Dorothy B. Hunter, Howard (Malbis) Hunter, Sr., Iris (Alonzo Jr.) Richardson, Carolyn (Elder Jeffrey) Rainey, Jacqueline (Sylvester Sr.) McMillian of Augusta, GA, Frederick J. Hunter, Alice R. Hunter, and Tracey L. Hunter; a cousin raised as a brother, LeDerrick Collins; and a devoted niece, Michelle Hunter.
He leaves to cherish his loving memories several relatives and friends.
