Obituary for Lillie McSwain (Ezell)

Affectionately known as “Sister Solider” On April 25, 2020, the Angel of God whispered: “Come now and take your rest.” Mrs. Lillie Ezell McSwain was born January 12, 1933 in Lucedale, MS. She was the oldest of four children born to the late Redd Ezell and Stella Graffreed. Lillie received her education in Lucedale, Mississippi Public School System. There she became a medical assistant at a local doctor ’s office. She was married to Simon P. Blackston. They were blessed with four children: Samuel E Blackston, Michael (Glenda), Theresa and Carl Blackston. She later united in matrimony to George McSwain and was blessed with four more children: one devoted daughter, Patricia (Eric) Rudolph, George (Lori) McSwain, Brenda (Stephen) Musgrove and Lee (Lajuan) Ruffin. Lillie confessed Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Not only did she confess Christ, she walked and talked a Christ -like life. So much so, that she became known in her community as “Sister Soldier.” She was truly a God -fearing Ambassador for Christ. She was a member of Shelby Church of God in Christ where she served in many capacities until her health failed. She leaves to cherish her precious memories loving her children: Samuel E Blackston, Michael (Glenda), Theresa, Carl Blackston, one devoted daughter, Patricia (Eric) Rudolph, George (Lori) McSwain, Brenda (Stephen) Musgrove and Lee (Jajuan) Ruffin; a host of grandchildren and great -grands; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
