Obituary of
Linda Marie Crawford Ely

For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven … Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8

Time to be Born… Linda Marie Crawford Ely, a native of Mobile, Alabama was born on December 14, 1956 to the union of the late Charlie and Rosie Eager.

A Time to Plant… At a young age, Linda was baptized at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend C.C. Bradley, currently James Murphy, Pastor. She later joined Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. W.C. McNeil. Linda’s current church affiliation was Manifest Presence International Church under the leadership of Dr. Leslie Gamble, Pastor. While serving there she was an active member of the Women’s Department, as well as serving on the Evangelical Team. Sis. Ely, was a great financial supporter of the church, and a faithful tither.

A Time to Build…Linda was a 1974 graduate of Ben C. Rain High School. She also attended Bishop State Community College shortly thereafter. Linda was employed by the State of Alabama for 33 years as supervisor until retirement in 2013. While working there an article in the newspaper was written in high regard of her once plainly decorated cubicle, which was later turned into a miniature living room. Her love of dolphins, and the decorated space made her “feel relaxed”, as she was there most of the time. It was an extension of her personality.

A Time to Love & Laugh… Affectionately known as “Diva” for her fashionable style. Linda was never the one to leave home without her makeup, or never falling asleep without it either. She had a way of making everyone feel loved. If you were ever in her presence, and needed anything, she would give you her last. It didn’t matter who you were, you would be blessed. Linda loved people, and everyone loved her, she was a natural giver. It was also said, she missed her calling as a comedian. Linda had a smile that would light up a room; to some her smile was a source of great joy; even in her sickness, she was always the encourager. Never the one to complain, she lived her life to the fullest.

A Time to Die… Linda received the call to return to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents Charlie and Rosie Eager, and sister and best friend Patricia Wolfe. She left to cherish the memories of her seasons, a loving, caring and dedicated daughter Shemeca R. Crawford (Gerard Pruitt), and a loving and caring son Brandon L. Ely, both of Mobile Alabama; a loving bonus daughter Andrea Shepherd of New Orleans, Louisiana; six loving and devoted grandchildren: Dannie Wells III of Huntsville, Alabama, and Brandon Ely Jr., Madison Ely, Braylin Ely, Brandi Ely, and Tommiya Landrum, all of Mobile, Alabama; three loving sisters: Carrie (Curtis) Allen, Loretta (Wilson) Collier and April (Charles) Eager, all of Mobile, Alabama; three loving brothers: Raymond (Willie Mae) Eager and Michael (Jacqueline) Eager, both of Mobile, Alabama, and Sam Christopher (Chanda) Eager of Houston Texas; nieces: Ashley, Martina, Angela, Brittany, Christian, Alexis, Shanterrica, Victoria, Santaneizia, Takeshia, Precious, Amiricle, Christian, and Jordan; nephews: Antoine, Carl, Keshun, Keyon, Michael, DeMarco, Curtis, Cameron, Sean, and Jerome; three devoted cousins: Christopher Eager, Keith Washington and Dan Henderson, and a host of devoted family and friends.
