Obituary

Lonnie James Patterson was born October 23, 1934 in Marvin, AL to Grady Sr. and Naomi Patterson. His birth name was L.G., he later changed to Lonnie James. He departed this life peacefully Thursday, October 22, 2020 at home with his family at his bedside. He was in good spirits, singing, humming and patting his toes until his transition.
He surrendered his life very early to the Lord and remained dedicated until his death. He worshipped and served as a Deacon faithfully at Andrew Street Church of Christ.
Brother Patterson met and was married to Dorothy Ray (McCastle) Patterson for sixty-seven years. To that union six children were born. They moved from Greenville, AL to Mobile, AL until his passing.
He worked and retired after thirty-seven years from National Gypsum Plant before it was bought by Gold Bond, and later bought by Armstrong. He worked as a millwright, where he was recognized with many plaques, certificates and rewards for outstanding services.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, to Grady Sr. and Naomi Patterson; his son, Lewis Albert Patterson; two brothers: Grady Patterson, Jr. and James Patterson; and one sister, Onie Mae Smith.
Brother Patterson leaves to cherish his precious memories, his loving and devoted wife of sixty-seven years, Dorothy Ray Patterson; two devoted daughters: Erma R. Patterson of Mobile, AL and Jacqueline E. Patterson of Birmingham, AL; three devoted sons: Elliott L. (Carla) Patterson, Tony B. (Valerie) Patterson both of Mobile, AL and Darryl K. (LaSonja) Patterson of Atlanta, GA; an 100 Year Old aunt, Lela Mae Grayson of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Hannah L. (Elroy) Gwynn of Danville, VA; two brothers: Roosevelt (Hattie) Patterson and Willard Patterson both of Mobile, AL; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a loving and devoted nephew, Clarence Luden, Jr., cousins, other relatives and friends, a devoted friend and Church brother, Brother Willie Mitchell.
