Loraine “Chop” Samuel -- a native of Commonwealth of Kentucky and a resident of Mobile, born October 24, 1947, to the late Mr. Willie and Ida Samuel Sr., departed this life on Friday April 21, 2023. He was 75. He was employed by Alabama State Docks where he retired after 26 years of dedicated service. He was preceded in death by his wife Margie Samuel and brothers Willie Samuel Jr. and Walter Samuel. He is survived by his daughter Rachel Samuel of Mobile, son Phillip (Jessica) Samuel of National Harbor MD, son Terrence Beard of Mobile, special family members Homer Hendricks of Mobile, Tamara Franks and Serenity Sarr of Mobile, Wendell Christian of Jackson, Mississippi and host of nieces and nephews. His remains will lie in state at Small's Mortuary Thursday, April 27 from 4-6 pm. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 11am April 28 at Small's Mortuary and Interment will follow in the Gethsemane Cemetery.
