Obituary for Louise Johnson Hill (Rembert)

Louise Johnson-Hill was born in Sumter County, AL on November 13, 1939 to the late Chat Rembert Sr., and Kathleen Rembert. She was called to eternal rest on Tuesday, November 15, 2022.

From early childhood until she graduated from John Essex High School in Demopolis, AL. Louise lived with her grandmother Mender Pruitt, and great aunt and uncle, Jennie and Frank Wright. After graduation she moved to Mobile AL. She was married to Louis Johnson with whom she had one child, Cedric Johnson, Sr. She was later married to Israel Hill, and had one son, Jason Hill.

Friends and family lovingly recall Louise's hard-working and caring spirit. She had a great deal of compassion for others, especially those who were less fortunate. She was employed for many years at National Jewelers. After the store closed, she was employed at Mobile Infirmary. She left Mobile Infirmary to devote her time to caring for her disabled son, Jason and assisting her mother in caring for her father and grandmother until their deaths.

In 1997, Louise moved with her son Jason to Montgomery, AL. where she continued to be a compassionate care-giver for her brother-in-law Brice's mother. She attended St. Paul A.M.E. Church confessed Christ and joined, where her brother Joseph Rembert, Sr. was Pastor. Upon returning to Mobile, she became a member of Mt. Gilead Missionary Baptist Church, where she served on the Pastor's Aide Board.

She was preceded in death by her father, Chat Rembert, Sr.; grandmother, Mender Pruitt; great-aunts: Jennie Wright and Beulah Johnson; and brothers: Chat Rembert, Jr. and Roy L. Rembert, Sr.
