Obituary for Mamie Lee Brooks (Jones)
Some years ago, specifically on March 17, 1932, the Heavenly wings were measured and fitted for Mamie Lee Jones Brooks. Mamie was a product of the union of the late Henry and Carry Jones of Foley, Alabama.
She received and accepted Jesus Christ during her early childhood years. Mamie accepted the itinerary for the Heavenly flight from her earthly cares on July 31, 2023.
Mamie was driven to assist anyone that needed a hand. Whether it was community resources, prayer, food or just an encouraging word. Baldwin County was never too big to travel to supply needed assistance.
In her professional life Mamie had tenures with Hayles Manufacturing Company, South Baldwin Hospital, and Community Action of Baldwin County. She was a faithful member of New Dimension of Praise Church of Robertsdale, Alabama under the leadership of Reverend Vincent L. Blount.
Mamie was preceded in death by her loving husband, Deacon Jewel Benjamin Brooks after 59 years of wedded matrimony; son, Jewel Leonard Brooks; brothers, Louis Jones, Willie Jones, Dolva Jones and Charles Jones; sisters, Catherine Jones, Ruth Jones Lambert and Margaret Knight; grandchildren, Gabrielle McGaster and Eric McGaster; Godson, Robert J. Clayton, III.
Mamie is survived by her daughters, Sylvia (Maurice) Brown, Kathy (Nathaniel) Walton, Corliss (Elbert) Harrison, and Paula (Herbert) Casey; her siblings, Mable Rorie, Helen Jones, and Donald (Dorotha) Jones; a host of devoted loving grandchildren, Jordan Walton, Minister Justin Brooks, Josalyn Harrison, Jewell Brooks, Joy Harrison Chambers, Angie White, Jonathan Harrison, Jurnei L. Casey, Corey Brooks, Shawn Wasp, Jacinita Harrison, Winford McGaster; God children, Danielle Daniels, Quinthia Rose Blount and Loretta Clayton.
