Obituary for Manford Vernon Floyd

Manford Vernon Floyd a native of Brewton, Alabama a resident of the (Boykin Community) departed this life on Monday May 3, 2021 in the comfort of his home. Born on March 26, 1959, he was the middle child of the late Bernard Floyd Sr. and Creola Bonom.
At a young age he was baptized at the First Marietta Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Rev U. L. Johnson. After returning to Brewton in May 2014, he united with the Greater Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a faithful member. He served as a trustee for the past year, but found the time to do whatever was needed to be done around the church.
Manford was a 1977 W.S. Neal High School graduate. He enlisted in the United States Army immediately after graduation and served until 1980. After separating from the military he moved to Oxnard, CA where he met and married Cathie Williams in October 1980.
Manford was a master electrician, a trade where he worked for more than thirty-five years. Manford was employed with Teledyne for several years where he traveled to Egypt for an extended stay. After leaving Oxnard, he gained employment with Addico, Wellcraft, and Raycon before retiring. He was recognized for his commitment during the construction of the St Palestine Missionary Baptist Church in 2018.
He was preceded in death by his father Bernard Sr., grandparents Frank and Alice Smith, Manford and Rosie Floyd, Robert and Amanda Meeks, and a special angel Betty Riley.
He leaves to cherish his memories sons Daniel James Williams and Marvis (Gillian) Floyd, his mother Creola Bonom, step-mother Mamie Ruth Floyd, granddaughter Blake Floyd, siblings James (Mary) Grice, Bernard Floyd Jr., Jacqueline Floyd, Kenneth (Jennie) Floyd, and Alice (Bruce) Brown, a devoted nephew Andrae’ (Paula) Brown and a devoted niece Mayisha Brown, great- nephews Mekhi and Austin Brown, and many devoted cousins and friends many of whom he talked to everyday or several times a day.
