Obituary for Marcus Demetris White

Marcus Demetris White was born to Maurice and Alberta White on November 13, 1981, in Birmingham, AL. Marcus would be the fourth family member, ultimately becoming the beloved middle child. Marcus was reared in the Mobile County Public School System. He attended Burroughs Elementary, Theodore Middle School, and Theodore High
School. Marcus was a standout athlete with an immense amount of talent. His brawn and prowess on the football
field would lend him the nickname "Big Show." On high school signing day, Marcus announced he would take his intellect and athletic skills to Auburn University. While at Auburn, Marcus pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. After three years at Auburn, Marcus transferred to Murray State University, where he finished his collegiate football career and earned his bachelor's degree. Marcus had a stint in the professional ranks, playing with the Tennessee Titans, New Orleans Voodoo, and Tennessee Valley Vipers. However, he would soon figure out his true calling was teaching, coaching, and mentoring young men. Marcus's wit and beautiful smile would leave an impression everywhere he worked. He was blessed to work with some of the best coaches and staff in high school and intercollegiate athletics.
Anyone that intimately knew Marcus would say the most important component of his life was his family. It did not matter where Marcus’s travels took him, if a family member lived
there, he was planning to see them.
Marcus attended Pilgrim Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling to Mt Pisgah Baptist Church to listen to his brother, Rev. Byron White, Sr. preach the word of God.
Marcus is survived by his wife, Jaunelle, daughters, MaKiah, Jailyn, Layla, and son, Marcus II; Parents, Maurice and Alberta, brothers, Maurice Jr. (Cherelle), Byron Sr. (Martina), and sister, Letita (Trenell); nieces, Charity and Myla, nephews, Maurice III, Aiden , Daniel, and Byron Jr.; and a host
of aunts, uncles, cousins, fraternity and masonic brothers.
