Obituary for Margaret Ann Troupe Fisher

Margaret Ann Troupe Fisher a true “lady”, woman of God and mother
to many was the youngest child and only daughter born to the union of
Samuel Troupe and James Etta Francis on December 25, 1940, in Decatur,
Alabama. The family moved to Gary, Indiana when Margaret was only
two months old. She matriculated in the Gary public school system and
graduated from Emerson High School.
Margaret met and married the love of her life, Pleas Henry Fisher, and
they began their life together raising their three daughters Monica, Rebecca
and Victoria. Margaret was a devoted and active member of First Baptist
Church of Gary where she served on the deacon board.
While raising her daughters Margaret returned to school and earned
her Associate and Bachelor degrees and worked as a registered respiratory
therapist at Gary Methodist Hospital. She later received her Master’s in
Public Health and became an administrator overseeing the respiratory
therapy departments at two campuses.
Margaret and Pleas loved to travel, explore historic sites and enjoy great
food. There was no greater food than her own as she was an extraordinary
cook and baker who put every bit of her love into each dish, cake and pie.
Her cooking legacy resides in her daughters who have learned to prepare
each special dish, cake and pie to their mother’s satisfaction and approval.
After the passing of her beloved husband, Margaret moved to Mobile
where she continued her early Christian experience with membership at
New Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and began the process of learning
and enjoying the city of Mobile, its mild weather and the multiple festivals
and activities along the Gulf Coast.
Over the last several months Margaret experienced multiple health issues
and peacefully exchanged labor for reward on January 17, 2024. She now
sits at the feet of the Master free from sickness or pain. She was preceded in
death by her parents; brothers, Thomas J. and Clark E. Troupe; her beloved
husband and life partner,Pleas Henry; daughter, Rev. Rebecca Fisher;
grandchildren, Megan McIntosh and Alexander McGuire. Remembering
her radiant smile and cherishing her memories are two devoted daughters,

Jr., Jet Kwateng and Easton Montgomery; brother-in-law, Alfred (Shelley)
