by her loving and caring family. Dear is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Herman McDaniel, Sr.

Dear was a true and faithful believer of Christianity and devoted her life to God; she accepted Christ as her personal Saviour. She was a member of the New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Usher Board over 50 years and worked in the Mission Department until her health declined. She served under the leadership of Rev. Richard York, Rev. J.C. S. Dials, Rev. J. C. Richardson, and presently Rev. Timothy O. Hale. Dear grew up in a family of 10 and was an amazing mother of 12, always in the presence of family. When difficulties arose, prayer was her solution. She stressed the importance of Sunday School, Baptist Training Union, and Church Service. Blessing the food, and prayer before bed was done everyday. She taught her Children, faithfully to do the right thing, to stay strong, to always support each other, and to exercise their right to vote.
Dear and Daddy worked tirelessly to provide opportunities to enhance their children and grandchildren’s quality of life. Dear became the primary caregiver of her mother-in-law, and children’s grandmother, “Mo-Mattie.”Dear worked for a short time outside of the home as a Private Duty Worker and at the Vanity Fair Manufactories. She spent most of time as a Homemaker, teaching her children how to cook and the necessity of cleanliness. She enjoyed holidays, fishing, and sporting events, especially Friday night football games. Christmas morning began gathering around the Christmas tree, praying, singing hymns, and thanking God for his goodness. She was a pillar of her community, and accepted and treated everyone with kindness no matter who they were. She took great pride in carrying her children “up the country” to visit where she was from. She insisted they learn about their heritage and see the family’s land. It was her father, “Papa” who taught her the stories of the Bible and about agriculture. She firmly believed: “A family that prays together, stays together.” Dear is survived by her loving children. Four sons: Rev. Richard McDaniel, Arnett (Lorraine) McDaniel, George “June-Boy” McDaniel, and Larry McDaniel; Five daughters: Roberta (Freddy) Engine, Janice McDaniel, Shirley Purifoy, Patricia Young, and Lois (Michael) Curry all of Prichard and Mobile, Alabama. 1 (one) God son Henry (Gloria) Williams; 32 grandchildren , 58 great grandchildren, 9 great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
