Obituary for Marquis Hubbard

Marquis Hubbard, of Mobile, Alabama turned in his earthly body for his crown on December 22, 2018. He was born November 11, 1945 to the late Cervy Hubbard and Ruby Lean Bridge Hubbard.
Marquis graduated from Mobile County Public School System in 1965. He was drafted by the Army in 1966 where he served in Vietnam. While in Vietnam he received two bronze stars, a purple heart recipient and an Air Metal. In 1968, Marquis was honorably discharged from the United States Army.

He went on to further his education at Bishop State Junior College and Mobile College where he received a degree from both schools. Marquis worked many years and retired from the United States Posta Service. Marquis accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church and
Cedar Street Baptist Church where he served in many capacities. Marquis was selected and was honored to serve as the 2017 “Goatman” for the Krewe of Goats Social Club.

Marquis’ legacy remains as he is survived by his three children: Dana Marshall, Marquis S. Hubbard and Marcel S. Hubbard, Sr.; seven devoted grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Doretha (Herbert) Bendolph; a life long companion, Glenda Holcombe; a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, devoted friends: Tomberry Pettway and Lang.
