Obituary for Martha Rose Lee

Martha Thompson Rose Lee was born in Camden, AL on March 8, 1943 to the parents of James Thompson and Henretta Lymon Thompson. At an early age, she moved to Mobile, AL with her adopted parents, David and Alberta Rose.

She was baptized and became a member of The Truevine Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. B.M. Lovett. She served in various departments, such as church school, Baptist Training, Union Junior Ushers, Sunbeams, Red Circle, Choir, Matrons, Julia Antone Circle, and the Alberta Rose Circle.

A 1960 graduate of Central High School, Martha attended Southern University, Baton Rouge, LA; Selma University, Selma, AL and Spring Hill College, Mobile, AL. She worked in the Mobile County School System for a number of years.

Martha had a passion for reading and writing. She was very passionate about Biblical topics. She was known for her quick wit and her infectious smile.

Martha was preceded in death by: Husband, Norman C. Lee, Sr. and son, Michael Boykin. Martha leaves many people behind to cherish her memories: Son, Dominic (Aslinda) Boykin; Son, Norman Jr. (Linda) Lee; Daughter, Michelle Boykin; Daughter, Meosha (Ronald) Menyfield; Daughter, Artesia Boykin (Shannon); Grandchildren, Murray, Krystal Rose, Jaelon, Jakyra, Norman (Cube), Gabriel, Kearstin, Akira, Ronald Jr. and grand-pups Lola Marie and Coco; Sisters, Eula Jones, Ila (Daniel) Colton, Bettye Thompson; Brothers, Matthew Thompson and Isarel (Bonita) Thompson; Step-Mother, Jessie Mae Thompson; God Daughters, Erika Rutledge and Pamela Reed; God Brother, Thomas E. McDowell, Sister-in-laws, Ruby Thompson, Alpha Lee and Rosalee Thompson; Brother-in-laws, Harper (Helen) Lee, beloved family and friends Anna Crum, Leathia Parker and beloved friend Zanell Cain; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
