Obituary for Mary Lee Brown (Ankum)

Mrs. Mary Lee Brown was born on May 3, 1954, to the late Mr. George and Mrs. Vicie Ankum of Latham, Alabama. Mary passed this life on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Saad Hospice Care surrounded by her loving family.
Mary graduated in 1972 from Douglasville High School in Bay Minette, Alabama. Mary worked for many years in the plant and fast -food industries .Mary confessed Christ at an early age as a member of Mt. Nebo Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health failed.
On May 25,1973, Mary married Herbert Brown, Sr. and to this union
four children were born. Mary loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great -grandchildren. She love fishing with her sons and cooking for the church. She was also known for her sweet potato pies and preserves.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. George and Mrs. Vicie Ankum, one son, Herbert Brown, Jr., one
sister, France Ankum Esemena, and two brothers, George Ankum, Jr., and Raymond Ankum.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories, a husband of fifty years Mr. Herbert Brown, Sr., three loving sons, Sylvester (Sherrell) Brown of Greensboro, North Carolina, Jose Brown of Latham, Alabama, Anthony Brown of Mobile, Alabama, and a stepson, Ronald (Alberta) Williams of Bay Minette, Alabama; seven loving grandchildren, A’nyiah Brown, Alasiah Brown, Anthony Brown, Jr., Antonio Brown, Quindon Brown, Sierra Frazier, and Deeyqwaun Williams; two loving great -grandchildren, Me ’Khi Brown, and Ashtyn Johnathan. She is also survived by six sisters, Sarah (Roy) Braddy, Bertha Ankum, April Ankum all of New York, Edna Ankum, Virginia (James) Patterson, and Ethel (Fred) Boykin all of Latham, Alabama; two brothers, John Ankum and Sam Ankum (a special friend Tanya Lester) -Sherie
Peterson all of New York; two sisters -in -law, Betty Latimore of Atmore, Alabama and Ann Cook of Flint, Michigan; two aunts, Willie Mae Seales of Mobile, Alabama and Sadie Seales of California; one uncle, Percy Seales of North Carolina. Host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, friends, other relatives, and church members.
