Obituary for Mary Lenora Witherspoon

Mary Lenora Witherspoon was a native of Mobile, Alabama, born on October 26, 1952 and transitioned this life on August 26. 2020. Mary was a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where she was a member of the Bethtones for over 40 years; the chairman of the family fun days for over 10 years; Sunday School teacher and an active member of Bible Study. She was a 1970 graduate of Lillie B. Williamson High School. She earned a Bachelor Degree from the University of South Alabama and a Masters Degree from Troy University. Mary was a lifetime member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. Mary was a committed and dedicated aunt for her nieces and nephews. She loved her family members be they sisters, brothers aunts or cousins.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Witherspoon and Catherine Pompey Witherspoon, three brothers, Dan Witherspoon II, Ronald Edward Witherspoon, McKinley Dan Witherspoon, and one niece Miriam Witherspoon. She leaves to cherish her loving memories of two devoted sisters, Catherine Witherspoon Perine and Bernadette Witherspoon Johnson of Mobile, four devoted nephews, Dan Witherspoon III of Atlanta, Georgia, Wesley Danord Perine (Naomig) of Dallas, Texas, Sgt. Jason Johnson (Audrey) of Fort Bragg, North Carolina and Ronald Bramen Witherspoon (Cheila) of Mobile, three nieces, Danette Scott (Derrick), Casey Latrice Perine and Danisha Love Johnson, eight great nieces, Madison Kenny, Amore’ Johnson, Peyton Newberry, Demia Scott, Deria Scott of Mobile, Ariel Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas, Anya Riley ,Naomi Johnson of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, four great nephews, Antonio Kidd, Ronald Witherspoon Jr. of Mobile, Trevon Kindle,Jordon Johnson of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, three sister-in-laws. Claretha W. Finley, Maudette C. Witherspoon, and Shirley P. Witherspoon of Mobile, numerous God children, three close family ties Kinard Henson, Una Williamson, Wilbert Paige of Mobile. a host of dedicated and devoted cousins and caring sorority sisters and friends.
