Obituary for Mattie Bell Solomon

Sister Mattie McNeil Solomon was born on October 3, 1939 in Walnut Hill, Florida (Escambia County) to the late Janie Davis McNeil and Ollie McNeil. She grew up in Camden, Alabama where she attended Camden Academy. Later in life, she moved to Mobile, Alabama and became a faithful member of St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a deaconess, nurses aid, and a pastor’s aid.
Sister Solomon was united in marriage to the late George W. Solomon in Mobile, Alabama. Together, they raised six children. After decades of service with the Krystal Company, she retired in 2004, with numerous awards for her hard work and dedication to the company. She loved to visit the sick and to serve her church family wherever possible.
She is predeceased by her husband, George Solomon and two brothers, Cleveland McNeil and Richard McNeil.
She leaves to cherish six children: Deloris McNeil, Patricia (Kenneth) Breech, Edward (Salina) Solomon Sr., Clara (Claudius) Mickles of Lucedale, MS, Felecia Solomon of California, and Georgette Solomon Polacci of Marietta, GA; a brother, Joseph (Lillian) McNeil of New York, NY; ten grandchildren: Michael McNeil, Whitney McNeil, Marcus McNeil, Jerome (Patrice) Cook, Jalisa Cook, Edward (Danielle) Solomon Jr., Valencia (Austin) Grissett, Claudius Mickles, Carlton Mickles, and Rocky Polacci; nine great grandchildren; a faithful caregiver, Geraldine Koger; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
