Obituary for Melvin Franklin

Melvin Franklin was a true man of God. He was the greatest husband, father, brother and friend. His quiet spirit was a comfort to those who knew him best. He was quick to lend a helping hand and always put others before himself.
Melvin married the love of his life on October 5, 1991. Through sickness and health, their love never wavered.

Melvin was the most devoted father any child could ask for. He attended every sports game. He showed up to every parent-teacher conference. He checked math homework and critiqued school projects. He worked as a chemical operator for many years. He provided for his family in every way possible.

Melvin was dedicated to his church, Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church. He took pride in teaching Sunday School. He was a Trustee and a Good Will Ambassador. His church family cared for him through every stage of his adult life.

Melvin was called to Heaven on August 19, 2023. He is preceded in death by his parents, Odies and Bessie Franklin, brothers, Otis Franklin Jr. and Elijah Franklin, and sister, Doris Wilson.

Melvin leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Ingrid Franklin; son, Melvin Joseph (Lauren) Franklin of St. Mary’s, Georgia; daughter, Natalie (Michael) Dunn of Mobile, Alabama; grandchildren, Levi Wolf and Eden Noel Franklin; sister, Naomi Taite of Whatley, Alabama; brother Edmund Franklin of Whatley, Alabama; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
