Obituary for Millie Bell Smiley

Born January 9, 1951 a long time resident of Daphne Alabama. Millie was born to the union of Commie C. Smiley and Millie Benson Smiley. Predeceased by her parents, two sisters Julia Collins and Roxie Smiley, and four Brothers John, Leroy, Commie Jr, and Aaron Smiley.

In her cherished memories she leaves son Christopher and daughter Tawanna Smiley and two devoted grandsons Christopher A. Smiley and Alonzo E. Smiley. In total three sisters Leler Stewart, Odesta Ellerbee, and Betty Dennis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Moving to Ithaca New York in 1982, she established herself at New York State Electric and Gas, and Cornell University accounts payable. In addition, she was a prominent board member of the Ithaca Neighbor Housing Services and finally and devoted member of the Calvary Baptist church choir.

In the process of her dedication, she sent both son and daughter off to college, where both obtained degrees (Physics and Business Administration Management). Mom kept our focus on going to college and our path to success was dictated by her dedication.

With a soft smile and direct words mom always taught us to respect others and to always seek the best within ourselves. To all family and friends thank you for allowing her heart and character to be a blessing to us all.

As a final note, mom please know we appreciate all your guidance and your teachings to always help others and to always place God first, with sincere love we thank you and we will always love you.

Amen.
