Obituary for Nix Martin Dr

Dr. Nina Nix Martin - a native of Ellisville, MS and a resident of Mobile, departed this life Monday, April 9, 2007 after a couragerous fight with cancer. She graduated from Ellisville High School in MS. She received her Bachelor's degree from Southern MS, Master's degree from LSU, and Eed from Auburn University. She started teaching in the Mobile Public School system at age nineteen. She taught everything from fifth grade to the marching band. She left the public school education in '66 to become a state coordinator for Title II. In '74 she was hired by the University of Alabama as the Department Head for Library Science. She remained with the University until she retired in '83. She spent the next three years teaching at American School in Honduras, Seoul and Korea. She spent the rest of her retirement traveling and enjoying her grands. She was a present that will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Lillian Seward Nix. She leaves to cherish a loving dog Scamp, two daughters, Dell (Chal) Ragsdale, Fayetteville, AR, and Gerry (Mike) Bagley, Ft. Walton Beach FL; two sisters, Patricia Moody, Mobile and Jean (Joe) Haining, Madison, MS, six grands, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Private service will be held at a later date. Dignified and professional services are entrusted to SMALL'S MORTUARY, 950 S. Broad St, Mobile, AL
