Obituary for Pastor Freddie Mae McGrew Austin

Pastor Freddie Mae Austin, was born on February 12, 1935 in Silas AL to Alonzo and Gladys McGrew.
She departed this life for her new home in heaven on February 5, 2021 surrounded by her children.
She was the wife of Mr. Eugene Austin Sr., of 65 years. Whom preceded her in death March 13, 2020,
WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. Pastor Freddie Mae Austin preached the gospel for over 57 years. She was a Faithful member of the Step of Faith Church, Mobile AL for over 25 years. She wore many hats. She served as a Pastor, Mother, board member, mentor, servant, organized the food bank, served with the benevolent hospitality and a friend.
Pastor Freddie Mae Austin was a nurse for 37 years. Her nursing career started as a Prenatal Nurse and expanded to a Home Health Nurse and ultimately private nursing. She had a passion for helping people. She had specialized training in caring for the elderly and children. With her love for children, she operated her Day Care Center in her home. She worked with DHR Foster Care program fostering children and supplying their needs. Her accomplishments: Level 3 certification recognition Member of the Specialized Training Achievement Recognition System.
Member of the Gulf Coast Child Development Association. Member of the GRCMA Early Childhood Directions, Director of the Day care center, Child Care program at her home.
Pastor Mrs. Freddie M. Austin was preceded in death by her son’s, James and Joseph Austin, Grandson, Tavoris Tripplet, Son-n-law, Clyde Mason.
She leaves to cherish his memories, two sons, Cornelius Doraton, Brussels Belgium, Eugene Austin Jr., Mobile, AL, and one daughter Barbara Austin Mason, Madison AL, 17 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, Louise Austin McGrew and Dorothy Ramsey of Mobile, AL. three brothers, Cleo (Joyce) McGrew of Silas, AL, Vert (Louise) McGrew, and Clyde (Lillie) McGrew of Mobile, AL, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
