Obituary for Priscilla Claiborne

Priscilla Claiborne was born May 18, 1963 in Mobile, Alabama.
She was affectionately known as “Cilla” to those who loved her. Cilla attended the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind in Talladega, AL from Kindergarten through the eleventh grade. During school sessions the family missed her dearly and visited when possible. It was a great joy when the Mobile Regional Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind School opened. Cilla returned home to continue her education surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Cilla was a faithful member of Little Flower Catholic Parish and attended other churches where there was a deaf ministry available.
She called Little Flower Parish and McGill-Toolen Catholic High School her family. She was an avid supporter of her nieces’ and nephew’s sports endeavors and would often show up at the concession stands during games to get her: hot dog, coke, candy bar, etc. using her winning smile as payment. That smile was also her entrance pass. Her hobbies included: working puzzles (word search and jigsaw), painting, playing cards and watching tv. An evening at the casino was also one of her favorite pastimes.
Cilla began her transition HOME approximately two months ago. Although she rallied back her health never fully returned to normal. “Cilla” passed away Monday, May 17, 2021 at home surrounded by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents; Sarah Pearl Claiborne and Nathaniel White; brother-in-law, Ricky Pierre; and nephew, Jeremy Claiborne. She is survived by her son Bobby Joe Luckett; sister, Jacqueline Pierre; nieces: Sarah Jessica Pierre, Alexandria Gail Pierre; nephew, Joseph Isaiah Pierre; many cousins, (one loving and devoted), Betty Jean Blackmore and a special friend, Troy Brown; many other family members and friends. Interment follows Mass at Gethsemane North Cemetery, 730 South Shelton Beach Road, Eight Mile, Al 36613.
