Obituary for Rachel Iona Lett (Dale)

Rachel Iona Dale Lett, a native and lifelong resident of Fairhope, AL was born February 21, 1930 to the union of Percy and Eunice Dale. She departed this life on Monday, February 12, 2024 at a local hospital.
Having been raised in Fairhope, Rachel accepted Christ at an early age at Twin Beech A.M.E. Zion Church. She graduated from Alabama State College with a Bachelors in Elementary Education. She worked in her family owned business, “Starlight” which operated for over forty years.

She was a devoted lifelong member of Twin Beech A.M.E Zion Church. She served faithfully on the Usher Board and the WH&OM Society serving as the local president for many years. Rachel was also a member of the Royal Sixteen Social Club, a club dedicated to community service. Affectionately known as “Bobbie D” by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom loved God and family the most, she read the Bible daily. She instilled into us to always pray, to always be thankful, and to always love and care for each other. Her favorite pastime was watching “The Young and The Restless”, TV game shows and she was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys Football fan! “She was always referencing the team as "Her boys!”
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Leon Lett, Sr.; parents, Percy
and Eunice Dale; siblings: Ruby Dale and Delaney Dale Jenkins; brother-in-law, Shelly Jenkins; nephews: Curtis Dale and Percy Jenkins, II; and
“adopted brother”, Samuel Dale. Rachel leaves to forever cherish her memory, four loving devoted children: two daughters: Iris Trent and Roxie (Waymond) Buchanan; two sons: Leon Lett, Jr. and Carlos Lett; five grandchildren: Marlon Buchanan, Brittany Buchanan, Princess Leondra Lett, Tyra Buchanan and Bailey Lett; nephews: Gregory Dale, Terrence “Terry” (Tamara) Dale, Percy H. Jenkins, Clayton Jenkins, Sr.; a loving and devoted niece,

Shellene Jenkins; an “adopted daughter” Leslie Lindsey; nine great-grandchildren; devoted friends: Cora Jean Riley, Velma Wiggins and Frankie Pugh, a host of other dear friends, family and cousins.
