Obituary for Ralph Herman Sylvester

Mr. Ralph Herman Sylvester, a native and lifelong resident of Mobile, Alabama departed this life on Thursday, May 20, 2021 at a local hospital. He was an active member of Hope Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church until his health began to fail. A servant of God, dedicated husband, grandfather, uncle and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nathaniel Sylvester, Sr. and Mary Ellen Sylvester Miles; Son, Cedric Sylvester, Ollie Sylvester and brother, Nathaniel Sylvester, Jr.
A proud graduate of Central High School, Class of 1960, received a Bachelor of Science and a Masters of Education degree from Alabama State University, Class of 1964. Ralph strongly believed in the benefits of formal education and encouraged others to do the same. Retired from Mobile County Public School System, where he taught for over 30 years and touched the lives of many students. He served as teacher and administrator.
His memories will be cherished by his devoted wife, Evelyn A. Sylvester, loving granddaughter Kiearra (Lindsey) Mayfield, Canton, GA, great-grandsons Ayden and Jaxon Mayfield, brothers-in-law, Albert (Beverly) Allen, Kenneth (Jo) Allen, sisters-in-law, Rev. Edna Allen, Willa Sylvester, Houston Texas, nephews: Damon Allen, Yaamon Allen, Kylan Allen, Dusty Sylvester; neices: Darnisha (Antwuan) Allen-Jackson, Sylvia (Brandon) Avery, Zandria (Jonathan) Samuels, Natalie (Harold) Kent, Shannon Sims, New Oreleans, LA. He also leaves many great nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other family and friends.
Ralph will be truly missed by all of us.
