Sergeant Richard Lee Roper, Sr. was born September 10, 1961 to the union of Nealy
and Arabell Roper. He departed this earthly life Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Richard served twenty-three years of dedicated service as a Police Officer with the Foley Police Department. He was also self employed as a Concrete Engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nealy and Arabell Roper; sister, Jessie Lee Foster; two brothers: John Finley and Robert Meeks.
Richard leaves to cherish his memories, his three children: sons: Richard (Yakeshia) Roper, Jr. and Rashad (Diamond) Roper both of Gulfport, MS; one daughter, Rokoyia (Demetrius) Roper-Lee of Biloxi, MS; one grandson, Jaylen Roper; four granddaughters: Amber Smith of Greenville, AL, Aaliyah Roper, I’mari Lee of
Biloxi, MS and Raleigh Roper of Gulfport, MS; one great-grandson, Aiden Smith of Greenville, AL; two sisters: Ellen (Larry) Yelding of Daphne, AL and Julene (Robert) Williams of Foley, AL; four brothers: Clarence Meeks, Quincy Roper, Nealy Jerome (Lisa) Roper all of Foley, AL, Arties (Elnoria) Roper of Daphne, AL; three aunts: Ella Rea Thrash of Cincinnati, OH, Essie Wilson of Chicago, IL and Mary Burroughs of Grove Hill, AL; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
