Obituary for Richard Tipton

Richard E. Tipton, a longtime resident of New Orleans and most recently Wagarville, Al made his earthly transition on the early morning of March 2, 2023 while at Mobile Infirmary. Richard was born on March 14, 1954, to the late Nathaniel Charles (NC) Tipton and Annie Lee Johnson in Mobile, Al.

Richard was frequently called “Bubba” in his early years and later “Tip” by his family and friends. He was a graduate of Southern Choctaw High School Class of 1971. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Army. Richard attended Livingston University and while there he joined his beloved fraternity, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.

On June 30, 1979 he was united in holy matrimony to Ollie Mae Hicks of Koenton, AL. To this union, they were blessed with 2 children: Aurelia & Richard Terrelle. Those who interacted with him will attest to his cerebral nature and quirky sense of humor. He loved his New Orleans Saints football team and going to casinos.

Preceding him in death were his parents Nathaniel Charles (NC) Tipton and Annie Lee Johnson and a devoted niece, Catina P. Wimbley.

Left to cherish his memories is a devoted sister (whom he resided with for the past 10 years), Jacquelyn A. Wimbley of Wagarville, AL. Spouse: Ollie M.
