Legacy of Life
Roland Sigler, Jr., (affectionately called “Slim”), a native of Hybart, Alabama (Monroeville) and a life-long resident of Mobile, Alabama. Roland Sigler retired with mobile county as the body and paint man; He was also the owner and operator of Slim’s Body Shop on St. Anthony Street for many years. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents Roland and Bennie Mae Dortch Sigler; son Marcus Sigler; sister Jewel Jones; brothers Jimmie Carstarphen and Dobie Sigler; and niece Cynthia Lang. Roland is survived by a loving wife Betty Sigler; loving children Michael (Beverly) Sigler of Suffolk, VA; Roderick (Tracy) Sigler of Suffolk, VA; Vanessa (Lawrence) Chapman of Norfolk, VA; Roland (Coretta) Sigler, III of Texas; and Courtney Sigler (Zack Pettway, fiancé) of Mobile, AL; loving sister and brother Leola Dixon and Freddie (Virginia) Sigler; six aunts: Earline Giallard, Dorothy Marshall, Ruthy Todd, Alnita Green, Alfredia Thurman, and Lillie Dortch; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; one devoted granddaughter and caregiver, the apple of his eyes, Kierra (KiKi) Brown; surrogate daughter Cheryl Lyde and surrogate grandson Darion King; a host of other nieces and nephews, especially Terri Williams; daughter-in-law Thelma Cowan; in-laws: Lillie Carstarphen, Youlanda Sigler, Raymond Phillips, Johnny (Arleen) Phillips, Terry (Samuel) McCord, and Gerri Phillips; devoted cousins James and Isaiah Sigler; special friends: Gloria Wilson, Marilyn Chapman, Gwendolyn Bridges, Larry Smith, John (Betty) Pittman, Alabama Representative Honorable Sam Jones; Billy Taylor, Mobile County Commissioner Honorable Merceria Ludgood, Henry Howard, Bobby Brown, Oscar Finch and a host of other relatives, friends.
