Obituary for Ronald Kirk Davis

Mr. Ronald K. Davis “Ron Davis,” transitioned to heavenly rest on Sunday, February 20. 2022 at a local hospital in Birmingham, AL. Born January 25,1963 in Mobile, AL, he was 59 years old. He was the first-born child to his late parents, Mr. & Mrs. James “Shot” Davis, and Mollie Marie Singleton Davis of Mobile, AL As a child raised in the Historic Africatown-Plateau Community, he committed his life to Christ at the Yorktown Missionary Baptist Church, where he served faithfully on the Board of Deacons and Trustees. Ron was educated in the Mobile County Public School System graduating from W. P. Davidson High School, Class of 1981, and further matriculated at Troy University in Troy AL, receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Social Rehabilitation in 1985 on a Track and Field Sports Scholarship.

Ronald was a proud resident and resolute public servant of City of Prichard AL. He served over 30 years in public service working with the Mobile County Public School System, as Board of Commissioner with the City of Prichard Water and Sewer Works System, Prichard Housing Authority, as a former Mayor of the City of Prichard, and Mobile County Sheriff Department. Ron Davis was an accomplished political leader who worked tirelessly for the residents of Prichard. His tenacious, energetic, and often humorous approach to leadership along with his respect for people from every walk of life made him a consummate and respected leader in Prichard, State of Alabama, and across the Mobile Area Gulf Coast. Ron Davis’ leadership was recognized and respected across the nation through his service with various organizations as the Conference of Black Mayors (Chair 2010-2012), Alabama State Conference of Black Mayors (Chair 2010-2012), World Conference of Mayors Inc., on the Troy University Sports Hall of Fame Committee (2012-2014), and over 25 years as a Football and Basketball Official with the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

He was proceeded in death by his parents Mr. & Mrs. James Davis, and his wife Mrs. Alisa Davis after 22 years of marriage. His uncle and aunt, Mr. Agnew Singleton and Isabell “Madea” Singleton, who raised him as a child.
Ronald’s memory and legacy will forever be cherished by his loving family and host of devoted cousins and special friends, Mrs. Shannon Davis White (Norman aka “Tony”), Pelham, AL; Mr. Jaron Davis (Tierra), McDonough, GA, and Jarhonda Davis, Mobile, AL; four grandsons: Norman “Trey” White, III; Jaron Meshach Davis, Jr., Colby Kingsley Williams, and Jamari Meshach Davis; one grand-daughter Alise Mollie White; his brother Mr. Glenn Davis of Plateau, AL; stepmother Mrs. Sherran Davis, Union City, GA; sisters Ms. Jayme Reynolds, Canoga Park, CA, and Ms. Stephanie Figgers, Cleveland, OH; uncle, Mr. Julius Singleton of Dallas, TX; aunt, Mrs. Antoinette Singleton of Africatown-Plateau, AL; devoted cousins of the Davis, Singleton-McSwain Family, and a host of friends and colleagues.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 2, 2022, at 12:00 Noon CST at the Mt. Hebron Church Ministries, Rev. Joseph F. Johnson, Pastor, 2531 Berkley Ave., Mobile. AL 36617. Rev. Christopher Williams, Pastor of Yorktown Missionary Baptist Church, will officiate the service. Public visitation will be held prior to funeral from 9:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. CST at the church. Due to Covid-19 protocol for public health and safety, persons attending the public visitation and funeral service must properly wear a mask. Funeral services and arrangements are entrusted to Small’s Mortuary, Mobile, AL. In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions can be made to the Ronald K.
