Obituary for Ronnie Cobbs

Ronnie Austin Cobbs
October 27, 1951 – April 17, 2021

In Mobile, Alabama, Ronnie A. Cobbs peacefully transcended on April 17, 2021.
He was found at home by a close friend. The whole city mourns the passing of a
humble and gentle soul. We ask your prayers and encouragement while the
family bereaves the loss of the fourth of five siblings. Ronnie Austin Cobbs was
born Oct 27, 1951 to the late Herbert Wilson and Mary Etta Cobbs.
Ronnie Cobbs shared a wonderful childhood, raised in Mobile and graduated from
Williamson High School, growing up under the guardianship of “nannie”, Clara J
Simpson, with his extended family of cousins. Ronnie crafted a profession as a
Health Care provider for the majority of his working career. After years of caring
for others, he was cared for by loving and devoted cousins Violetta (Natta)
Simpson and Valenia (Val) Green and nieces Xernona (Aaron) Ranson and Toi J
Harrison. Ronnie was a member of Greater Nazaree Baptist Church and attended
Mercy Life on Spring Hill Avenue, an inclusive Care of the Elderly, where he
enjoyed spending lots of time and he also assisted at Azalea City CDC providing
food, clothing and household items as a greeter.
Our Uncle Ronnie will be dearly missed by six (6) nephews, five (5) nieces, 22
great nephews and nieces and nine (9) great, great nephews and nieces. He was
preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Bettie Ann Newman, Jeroyal
Cobbs, and Milton Smith. He leaves behind an older sister, Brenda (Clausell)
Mathis, Montgomery, Alabama, cousins Violetta Simpson, Mobile; Kinsanthel
Manzie , Jacksonville, Florida; Randolph Wilson of Holt, Florida; Rudolph Wilson ,
country of Thailand; Eldridge Otis, Atlanta, Georgia, and Paul Otis, Hattiesburg,
Mississippi.

Viewing will be held on Friday April 30 th from 9am to 11 am and gravesites
memorial service will be held at 11:30 am, at Gethsemane Cemetery.

received by family and friends.
