Obituary for Sara Rand Howard

Mrs. Sara Rand Howard was born on January 28, 1943, in Alberta, Alabama to Dock and Willie Lee Rand who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Keith Lawayne Howard, and her sister Claudia Rand. Mrs. Howard found peace on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
Sara was a graduate of Cedar Grove Academy and she attended Bishop State Community College where she earned her Associate’s degree. She was a faithful member of Aimwell Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. She was employed by the Mobile County School System for over 30 years. Sara was a member of the Retired Educators, a faithful member of the Iota Phi Lambda Beta Sorority where she served as a Financial Assistant and her last position as Chaplain. She was also a member of the Mobile City Federated Club (Lillie Wicks Tolin).
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Andrew Joseph Howard, five children: Cynthia Curry of Mobile, AL, Michael (Deborah) Howard of Denton, TX, Gregory (LaGrance) Howard of Mobile, AL, Lisa Howard of Buford, GA, and Annissa (Federico) Thompson of Lithonia, GA; three brothers, David (Tsai) Rand, Las Vegas, NV; Ralph (Roxanne) Rand and Daniel (Michelle) Rand; one sister, Judy Rand; One sister in love, and devoted friend Delores Bagsby; nine grandchildren: LaShunda Pharr, JaQuita Jones, Brittany Howard, Nia Howard, Quentin Howard, Michael Howard, Nyjah Howard, Rian Thompson and Nolan Thompson; six great-grandchildren; Britani Jones, Bryson Jones, Michael Howard, Olivia Howard, Naomi Howard, and Kymani Howard; three nieces and one nephew, Beverly Rand, Kesha Bowen, Katrice Rand, and Terrance Rand; one great-niece Kymani Overton; two Godchildren, Charles D. Bagsby, Jr., and Jocelyn Wright; a host of cousins, and other relatives; a host of very special friends, and several devoted friends.
As a final note, mom and grandma please know we appreciate all your guidance and teachings to always help others and keep God first, with sincere love we thank you and will always love you.
