Obituary for Shaiheatrice Shequell Strait

Shaiheatrice Shequell Strait, a native of Mobile, Alabama, departed this life on Monday September 3, 2018 at her home in Montgomery, AL. A current member of Mt. Hebron Church Ministries, although she gave her life to Christ at an early age at El Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. Affectionately known as “Shai”, there was nothing shy about her. The second child of Emmett and Darlene Bingham and a 2004 graduate of Davidson High School, where she excelled academically and ran Varsity track for 3 years.
Shai graduated May 12th from Alabama State University with a degree in Business Finance, a Bachelor of Accounting. She was beautiful, brilliant, determined and ambitious. Whatever she set her mind to do, she did it and no goal went unaccomplished; hence her self-proclaimed nickname "Shai Money". She had an infectious smile and loving heart. She was hated by none and loved by all. She had a piece of advice for everyone she encountered, definitely wise beyond her years. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joan Strait (George) Coleman and Margaret Bingham.
Shai leaves to cherish her beautiful memories loving and caring parents, Emmett and Darlene Bingham. A grandfather, Oliver Strait Jr. Four sisters, Taheatha Strait, Emmesha Strait, Emmorja Bingham and Jazmyan Johnson. The love of her life, Ryan Phifer Jr. His younger brother Roman and his loving parents Ryan and Tarnita Phifer, who loved her as if she was their own child; best friend of 9 years: Gaylen Moore, whose daughter Logan Moore was Shai's Godchild; devoted uncle: Lafrederick Pettway; devoted aunt: Tiesha (Robert) Henderson; two dedicated roommates and friends who were at her side until God called her home: Kenyatta Johnson and Alexis Grant; A host of aunts and uncles: Carl (Sandy) Pettaway, Evon, Montgomery, LeeVaughn Pettway, Hattie (Greg) Baxter, Elmira Strait, Roy (Tina) Bingham, Rosa (Arthur) Jones, Raymond (Earline) Bingham, Joseph (Lois) Strait, Roweena Bingham, Derek (Wakeelah) Strait; An abundance of cousins, family, and friends too numerous to name and count. Recognizing that blood is not the only thing that makes one family.
