Obituary for Shelia Renee Turner

Shelia Renee Turner, 56, of Jacksonville, FL, passed away on June 23, 2022, after a series of respiratory complications triggered by her lifelong battle with asthma.

Shelia was born on July 19, 1965, to Jesse and Rosie Ann in Mobile, Alabama. Shelia was the youngest of three children. Shelia graduated from Mattie T Blount Highschool in 1983, and later went on to enlist in the United States Navy. This kickstarted her 30-year career in the medical filed. During her enlistment She served as a Hospital Corpsman and collected a multitude of awards including Overseas Service Ribbons and a National Defense Service Medal. Upon completion of her 10 years of service to our country, she went on to acquire her degree in Nursing.

Sheila dedicated her life to showing her love through unparalleled hospitality and caregiving of others, in both her professional and personal life. Whether related by blood or not, she blessed everyone she cherished with the same attention and hospitableness she would give her kids or grandkids. Because of this, Shelia has gained many friends in this life by doing what she has always known – creating a stress-free environment where family and strangers alike can enter free of judgement, and can expect to have their social needs met by either just having someone who will laugh with you, or someone who will lend an ear to your most sensitive troubles. Overall, Shelia managed to enrich the lives of others with her positive spirit and magnetic personality. In all she did, Shelia wanted only one thing – to make those around her smile.

We know that Shelia is enveloped by the love of her father Jesse who passed before her. Shelia is survived by her mother, Rosie Ann, her siblings, Russel (Janeth) Bondurant, Kimberly (John) Davis, and Jerry (Ava) Phillips. Her children Sherise Pugh, Christopher Turner Jr., Quindel Turner and Shaquille Turner, her granddaughter Naima Little and her God daughter Jayda Galmore.

To all she touched in so many other ways, may the emptiness left in her absence be forever filled with the joy you felt in her presence.
