Obituary for Shirley Roberts
Shirley Roberts, born August 16, 1939 to the parents of Marshall Chapman and Bernice S. Dixon. She was lovingly called "Big Shirley" by family and "Ms. Shirley” by family and community, finished her course on Monday, February 1, 2021.
Big Shirley was known for her love of people. One of her many talents was cooking. She got great satisfaction serving her food to others, and seeing how much they enjoyed it. She was a vessel blessed with knowing how to enjoy family and life, and she enjoyed both of them to the fullest. Although she was sickly her entire life, she provided care to others by doing private duty sitter service.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lamar Roberts; parents, Marshall Chapman and Bernice S. Dixon; brother, Winston Chapman; and son, Alonzo J. Woods, Jr.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, two daughters: Venita (Charles) Johnson and Yolanda Woods-Williams; grandchildren: Dyrel (Deanna) Johnson, Eric (Delisha) Johnson, Marquise (Gelise) Johnson, Gary Johnson, Gregory Williams, Delonzo Woods, Eric (Astella) Woods, Theron (ShaQuenta) Woods and Shirley Danièl Woods; great-
grandchildren; five siblings: Marshall (Linda) Chapman, LaVerne (James) Hart, Charles (Maxine) Chapman, Janice (Walter) Kidd and Chris Chapman; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
